A hopper loader (also called a vacuum hopper loader) is an automated material handling machine installed on top of an injection moulding machine, extruder, or blow moulder. Its job is to convey plastic granules virgin material, regrind, masterbatch or compound, from a storage source to the machine’s processing hopper, using vacuum suction through a flexible hose.
Without a hopper loader, your operators are manually scooping granules from bags into the machine hopper several times per shift. This wastes labour, introduces contamination from open bags and dust, creates inconsistent fill levels (which affects shot weight), and is impossible to scale across multi-machine plants.
